I’m not sure what I just watched? A great game? Yes, but a strange one from the Spurs perspective. They looked discombobuluated a good portion of the night. Ok, part of that’s on the Warriors’ multi-screening, multi action, motion offense sowing havoc. But our offense looked more or less like a bunch of talented players periodically stepping up and making great shots, at other times dumb shots.

We can get frustrated with Vassell’s need for glory and stupidly trying to plow through into a set defender for a dunk, when he had 3 easy options: a wide open Champagnie in the corner, Castle screaming down the opposite lane in parallell and a Wembanyama trailing, all ahead of the Warriors defensive line. Or Wemby’s strange lack of interior play on offense. Or Keldon’s inability to defensively stay in front of opponents. Or Fox’s hero ball. Then again, all these players have great moments. Is it enough to throw up your hands and simply say, we’re competing like hell, are young and will learn and get better? Well, fck that - something wasn’t right about this game.

Yes, Curry magic transcended and lifted the Warriors. What can you do? Well, for one, you don’t play him one on one when he begins to murder you. You switch and don’t go over screens, you double, you throw different multiple defenders at him. Better to let the Warriors periodically dissect you rather than let the game’s greatest defender celebrate Thanksgiving early with a turkeyshoot. And I’m pissed, yes pissed at Mitch. I’m beginning to dislike him. What’s his beef with Sochan who should have clocked a good 30 minutes especially in a game where you want your second best defender pouring a fire hose on a multi action offense? And wft are you doing continuing with a twin tower front that clearly doesn’t work against the Warriors of all teams?

Where is an identity you should by this time be stamping into this young Spurs team? What type of team play are we watching - can anyone make sense of it? One game, Castle plays lead point guard and the next he’s mostly off ball taking a grand total of 6 shots… when the Spurs are in the bonus, for Chrissakes, you want your pile driver with the ball in his hands, not a speed merchant who’s in search of his former clutch player magic taking a 20 foot, off balance fadeaway. And for fck sakes, go after those referees, get techs, get bounced from games to make your point you ain’t taking any more of their shit letting teams grossly foul your megastar with few calls, whilst sitting back and watching the likes of Curry throwing himself in to players for calls, or floppy Green baiting and arguing calls without so much as a technical. Get some cajones, Mitch.
